For those who have the flu.

Flu is a sickness familiar to many people. Flu, also called influenza, is an infection of the nose, throat and lungs, which are part of the respiratory system. The flu is caused by a virus. Most people with the flu get better on their own. But sometimes, influenza and its complications can be heavy. At first, the flu may seem like a cold with a runny nose, sneezing and sore throat. Colds usually start slowly. But the flu tends to come on quickly. And while a cold can be miserable, you usually feel much worse with the flu. Common symptoms of the flu often — but not always — include a fever as well as dry, persistent cough, aching muscles, chills and sweats. Vomiting and diarrhea also are flu symptoms. But they are more common in children than in adults.

Not everyone's immune system, even a strong one, can protect them from the disease. And when a person is sick, they usually have two desires: for the disease to be as mild as possible and for it to pass faster. Of course, a healthy diet will not be the key factor in achieving these goals, but it can help significantly. There is a difficulty here: with this disease, as a rule, appetite decreases, and the body needs more energy and nutrients to fight the disease. But first, advice that is given to almost everyone and almost always: drink enough fluids. Flu is usually accompanied by a fever with a high temperature, a person sweats and loses fluid. It needs to be replaced. You can drink water. Clean or with a small amount of lemon juice added. A traditional drink is tea with lemon and honey. Fruit juices, but homemade. If they are bought in a store, this means the presence of all sorts of additives in the juice, in particular sugar, which is not good, because sugar is a friend of all kinds of inflammatory processes. Next, chicken broth, which is traditionally considered an excellent remedy for this disease. I do not dispute this statement, but science, strictly speaking, has not yet confirmed this fact. Not only chicken broth is good, but any meat broth, and even better vegetable broth. In this case, vegetables will also add something: carrots - vitamin A, celery or onions - vitamin C. Add garlic to the food you eat to taste. Garlic is a well-deserved fighter against viruses, and the flu is a viral disease. Provide your body with vitamin C: peppers, oranges, grapefruits (or juice), kiwi, broccoli. Spinach and kale are highly recommended; by eating them you will give your body vitamins A, C, E, K. It is also worth noting that spinach leaves are edible raw. You can add various spices to the broth, for example, dill (vitamins A and C), parsley (vitamins A, C and K), coriander, rosemary, thyme. A little on the other hand. Flu is often accompanied by stomach problems. To ease the situation, eat curdled milk (yogurt), but only without added sugar, and sauerkraut. Both of these products are a source of bacteria that are beneficial for the intestines, normalizing its functioning. A few words about what you shouldn't eat and drink if you have the flu. Of course, alcohol, which dehydrates the body and makes life difficult for the immune system. Semi-finished products from the store. They usually contain a lot of salt, which dehydrates the body, and sugar, which will help the inflammatory processes going on in your body. Fatty foods, which can cause difficulties in the digestive system.
